Experts in helping you move better, feel stronger and keep doing what you love.
Our Approach.
We're problem solvers and good problem solving starts with really understanding the problem. That means getting to know you first. What does your day look like? Are you training for a marathon, trying to keep up with the kids, or just wanting to get back to the gym without something hurting? The goal matters, because it shapes everything about how we approach your treatment. From there, we take a thorough look at how you move not just where it hurts, but what's working well, what's restricted, what's weak, and what might be quietly contributing to your problem from somewhere else entirely. In our experience, the source of pain is rarely exactly where you feel it. Then we make a plan. A real one, built around you and what you're trying to get back to.
We combine hands-on treatment and exercise because most problems need both, and exercise is at the heart of what we do. We're designed to move, and it's movement - done right, with the right load at the right time - that creates lasting change. But every plan is personal. You won't get a generic sheet of exercises and a 'see how you go.' Your body, your problem and your goals determine the path we take. Some problems need more hands-on work. Some need a structured strength program. Most need a bit of both. We use our skills and experience in movement, strength and treatment to figure out what your problem actually needs ā and then we get to work.
What sets us apart.
At Base Movements we discover limitations to your movement, strength, coordination and pain. From there we treat with a combination of exercise, lifestyle advice and manual therapy. We are great at liaising with other health professionals such as surgeons, GPās or other Allied Health professionals on your journey to achieving your goals.
Some common techniques that we use to assess and treat include:
Force plate assessments for strength and coordination
Functional movement assessments
Dry needling
Joint mobilisation
Exercise assessment and prescription
